Cosy Mug Cover

Sometimes the simplest gifts prove to be the most welcome. As the days get a little cooler and the nights draw in, there are a few crochet accessories which bring added joy.

Perhaps one of the first things that crocheters learn to make is a Granny Square. It is easy to make a quick mug cosy by sewing together 3 basic granny squares together and then adding two spare buttons to keep it hugging the mug.

Items used:

To Finish

Place squares side by side and with wrong side uppermost sew together through the back loops only.

Using the grey yarn work a double crochet border evenly around the edges, working 3dc in each corner.

Button loop: Using grey yarn join with a slip stitch near top corner of one right side edge, ch5, slip stitch at base of ch to make a button loop.

Make another button loop in the bottom corner of the same edge.

Weave in remaining ends. Sew 2 buttons to correspond with the button loops.

Enjoy wrapping around your mug. Until next time.
