Flamingo-fy a tote bag with an easy DIY fabric paint project.
Want to add some color and character to a summery tote bag? Bring on the tropics by adding flamingos, colorful flowers and tropical foliage to an otherwise plain bag. Easy-to-paint project, from novice to skilled.
Supplies:
- Tote bag
- Fabric Paint + Brush
- Fabric Markers OR Disappearing Ink Pen
- Free Flamingo Clipart (see link)
Step #1:
Download, print and cut out the FREE flamingo clipart (or draw freehand). Place on the tote bag where desired. Using a disappearing ink pen or fine point fabric marker, trace the flamingo art.
Step #2:
Once traced, fill in the flamingo outline with fabric markers or fabric paint, adding your own touches to the flamingo to fit your personality, e.g. adding polka dots, stripes, zig zags, etc.
Step #3:
Surround the flamingo with tropical foliage and/or leaves as well as tropical flowers if desired. This is easily done by painting a variety of long and short leaf-like lines as well as five loop flower petals.
Add a handful of colorful polka dots around the flamingo art.
TIP: Use the end of a paint brush, dip the end in the paint and make perfectly round dots.
Step #4:
Let dry fully. And enjoy a flamingo-esque summer!
