Spring is in the air and flowers are blooming everywhere! In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to create your own flower crown. It is perfect on flower girls for a spring time wedding, for a music festival or just to channel your inner child of nature!
Supplies:
- Floral wire
- Floral tape
- Assortment of fake flowers: choose 1-2 main flowers and a few smaller filler flowers and greenery
Starting from about 1” from the crown wearer’s hairline, form a circle using the wire. Ensure that the circle fits on their head before proceeding.
Wrap the entire wire circle in florist tape. Remember to gently stretch the tape while you are wrapping so it becomes sticky.
Mentally mark the part where you joined the wire to create a circle as the back of the crown. Cut the stems of your main flowers, leaving only 1.5-2”. Starting from the back of the crown, begin wrapping your main flowers onto the circle frame with the florist tape. The flowers should be facing towards the front of the crown.
Once you have reached the front center, start again on the other side of the frame from the back. This way, your flowers should all be facing the same direction and meet at the center front of the crown.
Trim the stems of all your small filler flowers to 1.5-2” and begin filling in the space between the main flowers. Again, start from the back of the crown and work you way to the center for both sides.
And that’s all there is to it! Now go outside and dance in the middle of a flower field with your new crown and have fun!
