Kids’ Crafts: Sensory Table for Spring

Here in Portland Spring is in full swing – the constant rain brings us early spring flowers. This year the change in seasons seemed to happen overnight and all of a sudden everything is in bloom. Whether spring has begun in your area or if you are still snowed or rained in, here are some bright, spring themed sensory play activities to interest your little ones.

Rainbow Rice can be used in the sensory table to practice measuring and color classification, but it can also be used in many other crafts projects. You can even use it like sand art to create layers of colorful designs.

This would be a great way to incorporate the multitude of freshly fallen Magnolia leaves around our yard. Have the kids collect their favorite flower petals and then use them to create a relaxing indoor sensory activity.

Literacy is always more fun when you add a playful sensory activity. This activity helps preschoolers learn their letters while playing in bird seed. When they’re done playing, sensory table clean-up has never been easier. Time to feed the birds!
